APPROPRIATIONS - HELD HOSTAGE BY DACA
What's up with these ridiculous SHORT-TERM appropriation bills ?
Publish date: 19 January 2018
The Republicans and Democrats continue to fight over our latest short-term Government Funding Appropriation Bill. This has gone on for too long now, with only "Temporary" appropriations being able to get through to POTUS signature. Assuming MSNBC is accurate, the resolution to avoid (but actually to delay to February) shutdown seems ridiculous.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has stated that the OMNIBUS nature of appropriations bills has allowed unjustifiable items to get funding that should be directed to more worthwhile needs. He has a very good point - unscrupulous politicians cannot be permitted to get away with wasteful pet projects (Watch the video).
We think that it's time for the swamp to start thinking about specific appropriations for government activities and their House Rules processes, and stop kicking the can down the road. For example, separate appropriation bills could include:
Then maybe, just maybe, the selfish lawyers in DC would not be able to hold the US public hostage anymore. Minority Leader Pelosi is even on record for calling it "arson". The current ability of the Democrats to blackmail the Republicans over the DACA issue (without DACA, there would be something else to use as an excuse - DACA is currently the most opportune). This irresponsible and dangerous playing with the US' welfare is unacceptable.
Let us know what you think. But either way, give your elected officials a piece of your mind NOW.
