UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - the EAGLE
THE REALITY OF TODAY
United States has inflicted colossal damage around the world and this has been especially recognized with respect to Vietnam and events following the end of the Cold War. Ironically the hard-learned lessons over the last 20 years in the Middle East resulted in an overly cautious foreign affairs approach to issues by the Democratic administration under President Obama. The chaotic Libyan situation and the initially anemic response to ISIS expansion are powerful examples. Most western (and likely Russian and Chinese) leaders today seem to realize that Middle Eastern problems must be solved by Middle Eastern problem solvers. We must hope that a repeat of history in terms of factious national, or as in the case of non-secular Middle Eastern states, religious and/or tribal, interests is avoided. However, the chance of such an ideal outcome is almost certainly zero.
